Ipad photo upload?

Sorry but I've searched, googled - tooooooo complicated for a simpleton like me.

All I want to do is post a photo on a forum from my ipad - it says I require a URL? I think I understand the way it's linked directly to certain apps like the supported Moronbook, TWITter etc but I'm nothing to do with those.

I use iPad iPhoto and Dropbox do I need something else or am I just not doing it right?

Many thanks in anticipation.

You need to write a bit of code in your forum post. First, if you've uploaded the photo to Dropbox, you need to know its URL (its address on the Dropbox server); I don't use Dropbox myself, but I imagine it makes it easy to copy an image's path to the clipboard. It will be something like "http://...imagename.jpg."

To display it in a forum post, you create an "image tag." In this and most other forums, it looks like this:

{img}the full image URL goes here{/img}

...except, use [ and ] instead of { and }. I had to substitute here or the forum would think I were trying to insert an image. If the forum shows your tag instead of the image, check for typos, spaces, or some other deviation. Computers are stupid and make little allowance for human error!

Lanny is correct, i.e. images on the web all have unique addresses or URLs, and usually end w/ *.jpg - e.g. below is an image from my photo sharing website (on a laptop a simple right-click brings up a context menu w/ an option being 'Copy image address' which is the URL (looks like this once the image tag is selected {img}http://giradman.smugmug.com/Other/Bass-Lake-April-2012/i-QzBBgwX/0/M/GeeseChicks2-M.xxx{/img}) - note that I also replaced the brackets and put 'x's where .jpg should be - otherwise would be taken for an image - there are many image file extensions that are accepted in the HTML coding.

NOW, the BAD NEWS - iPad (i.e. iOS) browsers are lousy at providing these image URLs - right click does not exist and by pressing an image the menu options that pop up are limited and 'Save' usually does not seem to copy the image's URL in Safari - I've had some better luck using 'Atomic Web', so trying to find a different browser might help - hopefully, others who have solved this issue on the iPad will 'chime in' - it is SO EASY on a regular computer (I'm using my MBPro @ the moment) - good luck! Dropbox has the ability, now, to make links within the app/web site itself. With a link, you can post it to this forum. To do:

(1) Go to the picture you want to put in your forum post

(2) Press on the photo name and swipe to the right to reveal several icons

(3) Press the first icon (curvy arrow) and get this:

ImageUploadedByTapatalk1378749573.885639.webp

The link will be put on your clipboard and then you can paste it to the forum like this:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/d7m9p3ugbkwyaus/Photo Jun 28, 4 30 16 PM.jpg

You also choose to e-mail the photo, or tweet it or message it, etc...

Do note, however, that if you ever move that picture from its location, you will break the link and so no one will be able to view it.

So, a lot of people here at this forum use an app browser called iCab Mobile ($1.99). With it, you can upload a photo directly to a web site.

Or, if you want to load a photo to a forum, you can use a forum browsing app such as we have here (IPF app) or others (Tapatalk, Forum Runner, etc.). These apps allow you to select a photo from your photo app and upload it directly to a forum via the forum's software (much like iCab Mobile does for other web sites).

Hope some of this helps.
