I'm new to ipad and have a question. How do I delete bookmarks?

If you mean Safari bookmarks, then hit the Bookmarks icon, then Edit, then touch the '-' sign at the left of the bookmark you want to delete. It will turn through 90 degrees and a 'Delete' option will appear at the right hand side.
