You've knocked something loose.
Some members have recommended placing the iPad face down on a firm but padded surface and rapping firmly (but not excessively) on the back; in hopes that you'll knock something back into place.
I'm of two minds about this.
If the iPad is out of warrantee and unusable (or nearly so), it's probably worth the risk.
If the iPad is still under warrantee and there is no physical damage to the exterior, you might convince Apple to fix or replace it. If you have AppleCare+ (recommended heavily with any new iPad) you have a $50 replacement fee for accidental damage.
Doing anything that might 'finish off' the iPad would be a bad choice under those conditions.
At any rate, there is no software or reset fix for something like this. It's going to be hardware.
Good luck.
