iPad spontaneous hard reset?

My iPad forgot everything, my photos, email, apps, and reverted to from-the-factory state. Seems like it took a hard reset. Can't imagine how I could have performed a hard reset by accident, so I'm suspecting hardware. Has this happened to anyone else?

Nope.

But even if you did do a factory reset in the settings it would give you the connect to iTunes logo

Welcome, I notice this was your first post. If you have a local Apple Store I would take it in and have it checked out. If it truly just randomly did a hard reset, there is something wrong and I would get it replaced....

I did in fact go back to the iTunes connect screen.

Sometimes it is necessary to do a hard reset, while there some issue you can get it resolve via just a normal reset. For instance you could try force an application to quit, restart an ipad, soft reset or hard reset. iPad 2: How to Hard Reset on iPad 2
