iPad stuck on waiting for items to copy

When trying to sync my iPad with my Mac it is getting to the last step and says waiting for items to copy.
It just gets stuck there and will not do anything else.
Anyone had this happen?
Would appreciate any suggestions.

Have you tried aborting the sync and starting over?

Yes.
And I have restarted my Mac and iPad several times and still gets stuck on that.

How good is your internet connection? Without a good connection your iPad can't sync properly.

It is good. This is first time it has done this in about 3 years.

Have you tried syncing with another computer to determine whether or not the problem lies with the iPad or the computer?

If you try this, make sure to transfer purchases to the second computer when prompted. If you don't, syncing with a new computer will erase all your iTunes content. You can also go to the iTunes file menu, click on devices and select to transfer purchases.

If you're using a Windows computer the option is still in the iTunes file menu.
