Apple has announced today that China will be getting the Wi-Fi version of the iPad on Friday, September 17. It will be available to buy in Apple Retail Stores and select Apple Authorised Resellers from 10 a.m. As with the launches in other countries, Apple Retail Stores will offer a free Personal Setup service to any customer who buys an iPad at the store, helping them to set up their email, load their favourite apps and more. Apple Retail Stores in China will also be hosting special iPad workshops to help customers learn more about their new purchase.
The iPad Wi-Fi models will retail in China for CNY3988 ($589) for 16GB, CNY4788 ($707) for 32GB and CNY5588 ($825) for 64GB.
As with previous such announcements, Apple says that it will be launching the iPad in lots of other new territories before the end of the year.
Reporting on the news, AppleInsider adds that Apple just recently opened a megastore in Shanghai, China, and that it intends to open 25 more stores in the country, as it attempts to make further inroads into the potentially huge market.
