ipad upgrade

I want to upgrade my ipad 1 to ios5

is this recommended - will I loose apps?

I want to try and use the icloud feature

Yes you will, my brother updated his and sadly all his apps AND music were gone. Sucks dosnt it?

However, he loves it now, so many awesome features are added, I would say its worth it.

but I guess my music photos can be saved on itunes

You will not loose anything of you back up first before upgrading You may need to sync again after you upgrade and that is all that is needed to restore books music Picts and apps and any personal data that you have
