Reuters reports today that a survey from market research firm iSuppli says that Apple's competitors such as Hewlett Packard and Dell who are attempting to bring out iPad killers will all struggle to come up with anything as brilliant as Apple's hardware, software, OS and apps. Despite all the endless announcements that this or that company has the next "iPad" killer ready to unleash on the market at any minute, iSuppli predicts that the iPad will hold at least 70 percent of the market in 2011, and 62 percent by 2012. It also predicts that no strong contenders will emerge to challenge the iPad in 2011, especially after the iPad has had one of the best starts ever for a consumer electronics device, with sales of 3.3 million.

"It's still unlikely that any of the competitors will be able to equal the overall performance experience of the iPad," Rhoda Alexander, iSuppli's director of monitor research, told Reuters.

If recent history is any lesson it will take some time for these companies to get their products to market, longer for them to offer encessary software support and infrastructure, and an even lengthier period to begin to rival the overall user experience."

Missed out the best quote though.

“Companies are quickly developing products that match or exceed some of the surface hardware specifications of the Apple iPad,†Alexander said. “But it’s still unlikely that any of the competitors will be able to equal the overall performance experience of the iPad. Apple’s complete integration of hardware, software, operating system and applications is a major piece of what makes the device a standout. And on that basis—an integrated hardware/software design—we don’t see anything in the marketplace at present that seems likely to rival what Apple is offering in tablets today.â€
