IPad2 Mifi usage with non 3G ipad2

I need to know if a mifi device will give me reliably a 3G mobile connection with my non 3G ipad2 as well as the wi if facility via hot spots when I am on my travels

They are apparently very reliable, I have a friend who uses one on her work provided laptop.
I think one of the mods here has a mifi provided by 3mobile, maybe they will chip in?
Not cheap though eh? Although if you find yourself in not wifi areas a lot with a need to be connected I can see the benefit.

Hi Michael Lane,

I have been using the MiFi for about 6 months and have found it to be a pretty good device. Sometimes it even gets a better signal than my phone.
