iPad2 no sound in aps after ios 8.02 upgrade

If I go to settings/sounds and try any of them out, I can hear them. But in all my game aps, no sound and I'm not getting any sound for new text messages, either. I've tried rebooting and that doesn't work. I'm getting the audio with the YouTube ap. Any suggestions?

Maybe you muted the system sounds. Toggle the side switch next to the Volume button(s). Move it to the side where you don't see the red dot.

What did you select in Settings - General - Use Side Switch to?

If it's Lock Screen, then you might have muted the sound in Control Center. Slide it upwards from the bottom. If you find a white bell there which is crossed out (not exactly in the middle of the screen), tap it once more to grey it out.

If you set a volume limit in Settings - Music - Volume Limit, disable it.

I have the side switch set to "mute". The sound isn't muted and there's no volume limit. I checked out YouTube and I do have sound there. There's just no sound in aps such as any of the games or , and I'm not getting sound alerts with a get or send a text.

When I go to settings/sounds, I can listen to any of the various sounds - such as chimes, presto, etc.

This just started yesterday morning. I was in an area where there was no wi-fi and I wasn't receiving cellular. I tried just turning cellular off and then back on and that didn't work, so I restarted the iPad. I got the cellular back, but then lost the sounds in my aps.

So I have no idea what's going on but I never had any problems like this until I downgraded from ios 7 to ios 8.02

If system sounds are muted, some games or apps don't play sound as well.

Try moving the side switch twice: mute and un-mute the iPad. Or use the Volume buttons.
