Ipad2 security help new user

Hi was hoping someone could help me with a couple of questions???

I have iPad 2 , do I need to add any kind of security on it like I had on my old laptop (norton) .. 1st question!!!
Also if I wanted to buy from sites like amazon or eBay would I be protected...??? Or how can I get protected?. 2nd question


I don't have a 3G so was hoping to use my iPhone 3G service to connect whilst out of the house(someone mention I could) but failed to tell me how I do this??? 3rd question.

What is a hotspot ??
