Ipad2 to tv

What do I need to view my iPad2 content (photos, and whatever) on my TV wirelessly? I do not have an Apple TV. I do not know what an Apple TV is. I have advertisements that say it is possible. Thanks for any help or information.

I suggest you search because there are many threads about this.

Apple tv is wireless and preferred. But, you can use the av connector if your tv supports hdmi.
