What would you recommend for storing photos and other files for the IPAD2

What types of files are your trying to store other than photos? Do you want them stored on the iPad and/or in another location? Actually asking the question for my wife. She has a 32GB IPAD2. She has tons of pictures uploaded on a Flickr account and was wondering if there is a better solution such as an external drive WIFI as oppose to an online site. I also have tons of music that I would really like to save and really should have backed up. I have a MacBook Air. Something that could accommodate both.
