Hi everyone,

Ok so I have never owned an ipad before and i am thinking of getting one very soon but was just wondering if its worth getting the "new ipad" or ipad 2 will be just as good. I have read all about the retina display etc but have also heard about heating issues with the new ipad, been slightly heavy and bulky than the ipad 2 and charging issues that takes twice as much time to charge it..

I'll be mostly using my ipad to read email, surfing the net, writing notes here and there, drawing and painting (a lot, i am an design artist) mayb watching a movie once in a while and normal application use..I won't be doing any gaming or anything big like that.

Thanks for ur help

Hi I read all of what you wrote and if the (new iPad) is having those difficulties then I think it is petter of just getting the iPad 2 and it is depending on If you won't a heavier on or lighter one? You seem like you would be doing quit a lot or in some people's case not a lot of things on your iPad so just think about it. Also think about how much they cost as well which one is Cheeper or what ever you decide. Really it is your chose but just think about the cost and all. Glad I could help.

All of that stuff about heating issues and being heavy is total nonsense. It does get warmer than the other two iPad did, but it has way more pixels on the screen and the screen is more vibrant. I suggest you get the new iPad.

The media made a big deal about how much hotter the new iPad is compared to the iPad 2. But when someone (eventually) compared it to the current crop of Android tablets, they found a difference of about 3-4 degrees Celcius. The media love to sensationalise everything, even when it's not worth mentioning.

I was in ur boat. I got the new one and comparing it to my friends iPad 2 I'm glad I got the 3. The display is so much better for everything and it even does some things a bit quicker like photo editing and will also open some very big detailed video files that his wont.

I use the camera on mine and am much happier with the 3 than with the iPad 2. Photos are so much nicer. I imagine if you do art work the screen clarity would be better for you. It is, however, a bit heavier. I carry it in my pocketbook and my shoulder gets sore after a while. Of course it got sore with the 2 as well.

I would suggest that you find the nearest store that has them in stock and look at them. You may find that method to be a better judge than we are. Only you will know what is best for your needs. None of the problems you have heard about mean anything when you realize how meaningless the complaints are compared to the high satisfaction level of buyers. There will always be a minority of vocal compainers for anything. Some are just overly nit picking, some looking for excuses for class action lawsuites, and many are just unfortunate to have bad luck. If you can afford, the New iPad, go for it and have the best experience. If you cannot afford the New iPad, you will be very happy with the iPad 2 as a bargain.

Because you do a lot of drawing and painting I'd suggest going for the new iPad if you can afford it.

The screen is just gorgeous and everything is so crisp and clear, it's truly a pleasure to use

I was gonna get the 2 but decided to save hard for the 3 and I'm delighted I did, even reading my emails is a joy on this wonderful tablet :)
