Is there an app for this?

I am looking for an app that will allow me to open two seperate apps side by side/split screen and allow me to operate either app. I have found apps that allow split browsers but none that allow opening two different apps on one screen. I appreciate the help.

Apple doesn't allow this, but maybe jail breakers can help. Jailbreaking is not supported by Apple under terms of agreement, though. So keep that in mind if you're concerned about warranty and Apple support.

As far as i know there is not an app for this. Could try just using the multi-tasking feature that comes with iOS

As already noted above multiple windows are not supported by iOS. This is a major weakness compared to a "real" computer. On the other hand, the extremely limited multi-tasking capabilities of the iPad enables Apple to provide a very smooth user experience by limiting the demands on what amounts to a relatively underpowered system. Furthermore, with a 9.7" screen, Apple believes (and is largely correct) that trying to squeeze multiple windows on a single screen would not be a very satisfactory user experience.
