What's new

iTunes 11 has landed!

At last.

Unfortunately, I'm away from home and getting further so it will be a week or so before I can update. Hope to see some thoughts and experiences here in the meantime.

Well, I need to look at it more but presently I cannot see my summary when I attach my ipad. I could sync from ipad but it seems my devices are still not being seen wirelessly. I was hoping the new iTunes would correct that problem. iTunes could always see my devices before the ios6 update. But, most importantly where are the devices listed on the new interface?

I hope my desktop doesn't do a nose dive with this new update! iTunes on a PC seems to be so bloated and takes forever for my little Dino PC to open it up with the current update as it is!

OK, finding my way around the new interface but still have the problem that itunes does not see any of my devices unless I attach them to the computer. It is annoying but not the end of the world!

You know that happened to me about a week ago. I had to actually reconnect my iPad with the USB connector do a backup and than retry it wirelessly. It worked. Give that a try and see.

I thought the rule was you had to connect a device at least once to enable wireless sync. It could be that after the update one needs to redo it for all devices.

I didn't know that was a rule. I haven't read that, but I did it on my own and it worked! I did the direct connect to enable the wireless connect way back with ios 5, and that was it.

I found this:

How to set up iTunes Wireless Sync
1. Make certain that your computer and iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch are connected to the same Wi-Fi signal.
2. Connect your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch to a Mac or PC via USB. Launch iTunes if it doesn’t do so automatically.
3. Highlight your iDevice in the sidebar.
4. Click "Summary" in the menu bar. Scroll down to the "Options" section.
5. Check the "Sync with this (iOS device) over Wi-Fi" box. Click "Apply."
6. Detach your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.
7. Initiate an iTunes Wi-Fi Sync by tapping Settings > General > iTunes Wi-Fi Sync > Sync Now on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch. Or, plug it into an outlet.
Enjoy your wireless freedom!

here. It seems to indicate that to sync with iTunes wirelessly, you at least must have the device connected to a PC/Mac via a cable at least once. It could be that changes to the version 11 require this be done again.

I am thinking it has to be with the update too, that we have to re-initiate the process to enable wireless syncing too. That was the on,y change to my end. Unfortunately, I don't think many members knew to do this and were frustrated about it.

I know after I installed it I got a message saying it saw some iPad that it did not recognize. That was over the wireless network as I have not synced to this new iTunes yet. I will play with it over the weekend.

That has not solved my problem with wireless sync. I have connected several times today and still my devices are not seen wirelessly. I see some say to reset router...did that and had a few nerve wracking hours reconnecting to Internet! I am going to leave things as they are.
