I did a search if this has been asked before i missed it.

When you go to download a free apps on itunes for first time
it keeps asking for credit card information. Is this normal?
I seen no way around it for free apps.
Thank you.

Credit card

Yes, you do have to log your debit/credit details but this does not mean you are paying for free apps, that is only for when you buy paid for apps. The free apps are not charged to your account. I was confused too but this is standard for iTunes.

This is all new to me.. Thank you.

You can make an account in iTunes without a credit card.

Create an iTunes App Store account without a credit card

Personally, I buy prepaid cards and keep the credit card safely in my pocket.

Thank You Numblock! I went in and deleted my creditcard information. I will probably never download a paid app. When I do, using a prepaid card is a good idea.
I have enough credit information out there in netherspace as it is...no need to add itunes to it.

Sometimes this freak us out because they are getting the credit card information. We may ask ourselves: "How safe it is?". In my opinion, not all credit card thieves are technical enough to hack into retail store computer systems to steal data, albeit it may be probable. Once a thief has your data, you may not detect it until your billing accrues and it can cost much more than any form of credit such as payday loans or personal loan just to pay it back. If you notice suspicious activity on your account, contact your creditor immediately using the digits on the back of the card.
