iTunes and iPad sync

Hello,

I just signed up after coming across this site. Seems very informative and a fun way to meet with people and learn the best tablet, ever.


My question...I have iPad 1 and would like to know if I want to delete an app or photo forever from my iPad, do I delete
From the iPad or do I delete from iTunes? Or both.

Hi, Davidb64! Welcome to iPF!

If you want to delete photos from your iPad forever, you just need to delete them there. In case they were synced from your computer, you're not able to do this. You'll have to deselect them in iTunes on your computer, and then sync your device to iTunes again. This will remove them from the iPad.

It's different with apps. They are connected to your Apple ID. You can remove them from your iPad, if you don't want to use them any more. They will stay in App Store - Purchased, and they can't be deleted from there. Once you downloaded/purchased them, they belong to you, and in case you change your mind, you're still able to install them again.

You can hide them by going to the iTunes Store on your computer, through iTunes. This doesn’t really remove them from your purchase history, but will prevent them from appearing in your recent purchases on your iPad or in your iTunes Purchased. To do this, open the iTunes Store from within iTunes, and choose “Purchased”. This takes you to your purchase history. In "Apps", go to any app that you would like to hide, and a small “X” will appear at the top left corner of the app icon. Click it to hide the app.
