iTunes and Windows 7

Why is it that iTunes and Windows 7 just will not cooperate!! I am getting so frustrated with this unhealthy relationship between the two. I searched here and a vast number of other places to find someone who could/would help me resolve the problem I was having. Specifically, after trying to upgrade iTunes to the latest version (2 months ago) I kept getting the message that the Windows installer could not be accessed. So, I could not upgrade. I then could not even uninstall the version of iTunes on my machine.
This went on for weeks. No real help. I finally sent my laptop back to the mftr (two time w/in this period of time). This last time they just replaced the hard drive because they could not get iTunes installed either.
With the new hard drive I was able to install the latest version of iTunes (10.3 I think). This was about two weeks ago. Today I tried to update the software on my iPad 2. After downloading for about 20 minutes and then preparing for install and installation time of another 10 minutes or so I finally get the error message that the update could not be installed!! Why Not??? iTunes is the only program that I have this problem with. Does anyone using Windows 7 NOT have this problem? Does Apple even give a flip? So what is one supposed to do, just ignore the updates?
It should not be this difficult!!!

iTunes tends not to play well with others. It use to really hate me!

B-r-e-a-t-h-e...!:)

I bumped your thread to our iPad Help Section. Hopefully we can get this sorted for you.:)

Sorry you're having such an awful time, Hthompson1. I have a netbook with Win7. I recall having an issue once because my AV program was updating at the same time I was trying to sync. Now I make certain that all updates are done (including the OS) before I open iTunes. Have encountered no further issues.

Hi, I have a windows 7 laptop and an XP PC. I haven't had any real issues with iTunes except that occasionally when I update iOS on my iPod touch my library disappears, when this happens I have to disconnect the iPod and use a different port to reconnect. Sorry if this is a bit off topic, just wondering if anyone else has this issue?

Sent from my iPad2 using IPF

Geez! Felt for a minute there like I was talking to my wife. :p

LOL! (about the wife). I was just thinking about suggesting what Hasty said above, that very well may be the problem.

Did you try as Admin?

I am signed on as administrator at all times. Actually, the part of my question asking whether anyone had NOT.......etc, was rhetorical, brought on by acute frustration. Also, I do not recall having the option to specifically select "Run as Administrator" before the download begins.

I'm not sure if it will make a difference, but you could try right clicking iTunes, selecting "Run as Administrator," and then choosing update from the pulldown menu. I know... it's a long shot, but you seem to have tried everything else.
