Hello guys, I just acquired this app so let's see what happens. I'm a professional musician and I use the iPad religiously for live playback. After spending countless hours in Protools recording and mixing my tracks, I import them into iTunes where I can also import a lyric if needed in the " Get Info / artwork "option. So now when I play that track on the iPad, the lyric simultaneously pops up. This system worked perfectly for me UNTILL I upgraded to 5.1.1. The " iTunes " player became the "Music" player and the interface changed. NOW, my playlist looks like a bunch of papers piled on top of each other. The lyric shows up in a tiny little box that's located so close to the control panel that if you're not careful, you could accidentally hit the next song. It has also crashed while playing (black screen) the only way to get it back is "RESTART" having to do this is absolutely deadly during a live performance.

The ironic thing is the 5.1.1 upgrade only affected the iPad in this way. iTunes for iphone4 and 4s remained the same as before the upgrade. There needs to be some way to change or revert the " Music" player for iPad back to its original format. WHY, after installing a system update would it change ONLY the iPad and NOT the iPhone? Surely there's someone out there who understands and has experienced this.

Nothing you can fix. It's just the way the new app works. Lots of people unhappy with the new Music app that came with iOS 5.x. Add your voice, and perhaps we'll see it improved.

Apple - iPad - Feedback

There are some third party apps that will work with the iTunes library. I haven't heard of one that does a great job. I saw a decent review of Album Flow Pro, but there is no mention of lyrics support.

That said, there are many DJ apps that may be better suited for your use. We've had several people come by who use their iPads for radio stations, D.J., and live performances. They usually settle on one of those apps.

Thanks I've actually gotten use to it. As for the lyrics, I've learned to be very careful when trying to touch that tiny icon next to the fast forward command. It wasn't broke. Nonetheless I would be interested in some alternive approaches to live gigging using Software such as Ableton Live. I need to incorporate my live accompaniment into something I can manipulate on stage.Could the iPad run something like that or would I need a laptop?

I can't help with that. I've never done it myself. I just remember another member saying they used their iPad for live performance, and something about having settled on one of the DJ apps.
