Itunes podcast downloads

Evening all.
Can anyone help me with this issue which is as follows,
When I download podcasts in iTunes they sit in the download icon and stay there with the following notation..preparing to download!
I have synced to pc etc and nothing has happened .cant even delete these stalled download

Just found out how to do it.
Go to itunes
then to downloads
then swipe left on the stuck download
and the word delete comes up
hit delete and its gone
