ITunes verification code

I am trying to recover from a failed ipad OS update.
I have attached my ipad air to my PC and when I try to sign into itunes to start the update I get prompted to enter the verification code sent to my other devices?
I haven't got any other devices configured in itunes.????
Any help greatly received thanks.

It looks like you've set up two factor authentication for your Apple ID. A verification code will be sent to your iPad when you try signing in to iTunes on the computer.
Get a verification code and sign in with two-factor authentication
