with some progress being made on the a5 chipset and an ipad 2 jailbreak around the corner i was wondering can i run development on a jailbroken ipad?

will the jailbreak and udid activation live together?

Yes, perfectly well. Just remember, jailbreaks are rarely available for beta firmwares, so if you are a true developer working on "next" OS releases like 5.1, you likely won't be able to do that whilst also being jailbroken...
