Kindle download

Hi, new to the forum and as with the majority my first post is for help. I bought my daughter an Ipad2 we have downloaded the kindle app from the Istore and gone to amazon kindle to try and download some books. When we downloaded a sample this seemed to work ok. However when I have purchased a book it appears on the "cloud" but when I try downloading it to the device and try to open it I get an error message that advises to delete it from the from device and re download it to "archive" and, if the error persists to delete the app and re install. I have tried doing both however the error is still there. Any ideas ????
