Location based reminder

I was let to believe that one can set a reminder to pop up,based on a preset location on your Ipad 2.I cant seem to get this going.Is there a step by step instruction available.I have the latest available version of iOS5.
2.Are there any apps available which are simmilar to Windows-Word and Exel.I need something which I can export in Mac format and Windows format.
