Losing sound randomly....

So my ipad cuts sound when I play games. One minute I have sound, the next I don't. I have exit out of the game and go back into it to get sound back. Is this a software problem or a hardware problem? I just bought my iPad so I would like to take it back if it's hardware related.

Did you ever get an answer to this? I'm having the same problem and want to know if I should return my iPad.

Hey just reporting here- I had the same problem with mine recently..and as of yesterday- it does not turn on! I already charged it..I was updating to the next I Tunes- because I hate to sync it so I rarely do,.

Can't help with the sound question but if it occurs on all games and content I'd definitely take it back and get the store to check it out.
If it's just specific games it could just be bad programming.
What's it like watching a music video on youtube or streaming radio?

I lose sound with Angry Birds, not all the time, but it happens randomly. I have to go home then back into the app for the sound to come back.

Youtube and video streaming work fine for me.

Happens to me too with Angry Birds sometimes. Must be a programming error as I have no other problem with sound.

OK so it had happened to me with Angry Birds...but some other apps as well. and It also happened to everything associated with sound on my IPAD.. I was not to worried about that- but I was sync ing my Ipad two days ago and- then suddenly it DIED!! totally died...I am going to the Apple store tomorrow..

Yes, this is happening to me too, only since upgrading to iOS 4.2. Started by just happening in the Infinity Blade game and then popping up in other games (sometimes pandora or even the native iPod app). I'm wondering if the solution may have to be wiping and restoring....
