Hi, my ipad mini tells me on screen it is over capacity by 1.7GB, but when I look on the ipad there is 7.0GB left of 13.7, I've hardly a thing on it 77 apps, 30 photos, no music. I've even taken the apps down to 30 but still telss me it's over capacity. Is there something wrong here?

THanks

If I may ask - what is it you are trying to do that results in this message? Is the message from iTunes, the AppStore or another app?

Hopefully, if we know what is giving you the notice, we can help determine how to help. Thanks.

Are you trying to music, movies or pictures on it in a mass transfer? Cause, the only way I can think is that you're trying to put more stuff on the Mini (during your sync) than the Mini's got room for.

So, check to see what media/files you've got checked to sync over to the Mini. Odds are - you're trying to put more stuff on it than it's got room for. You'll have to uncheck things until you don't get that message any more.

At least, that's how I think your problem will be solved (as I've never gotten/seen this message on a sync)... :)

Thanks, but surely it can take more then 5 apps, 40 songs, no photos, no audio books and no anything else? Which it has on at the moment and won't let me add anything else at all, which can't right?

There is 15.0GB of stoage, 6.1 available, which must equate to at least one song!?, which I have tried to sync but no music appears.

It also says 9.3GB available 'on this ipad' when looking at the itunes sync screen.

Can't fathom what he issue is! My son has same ipad mini with tonnes more stuff on than mine with free space to boot!

Hi Toottoot - if not already done, I would suggest a 'Reset' of the iPad (directions quoted at bottom below) and then check the usage; also, let us know if you are a big 'renter' of movies & TV shows - some have reported that these might not be deleted correctly after their expiration dates and may take up a LOT of unlabeled usage - let us know your results - good luck! Dave :)

When an app (or several) are misbehaving, I usually go through the following steps:

1. Force Close - open the multi-tasking bar (double tap the 'home buttom' or use multi-gesturing and swipe up); press & hold an app until all begin to 'jiggle'; find the offending app(s) and press the 'red circle w/ minus sign' - return to the home screen & try again.

2. Restart - press & hold the 'Sleep/Awake' (a.k.a. power) button until a red slider appears (may take a few seconds) - move the slider to turn off the iPad; then press & hold the same button until the Apple logo appears - wait for a restart.

3. Reset - press & hold the 'Power' and 'Home' buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears - this may take a longer time, so have patience; the iPad will 're-boot' - NOTE that none of these maneuvers will alter your apps, files, or settings.
