Is there anyway you can transfer messages(SMS) from iPhone to the iPad message app

Maybe. I don't' use SMS, so i can't be sure, but:
If you choose Edit when you are viewing the conversation you can select the parts of the conversation you want and and try forward them to the iPad's iMessage email address. You may need to have your own address set up in Contacts so that you can select it using the + icon next to the address field.
