BGR reports that both Microsoft and Apple have been talking about their rival’s product today. In response to comments that Apple’s CEO Tim Cook made about the Surface, saying “You could design a car that flies and floats, but I don’t think it would do either of those things very well,†Microsoft’s Windows and Windows Live president, Steven Sinofsky, has been talking to AllThingsD about how cheap some fully featured Windows 8 laptops are for what they give you, and how expensive the iPad mini is. In the interview, Sinofsky says that while some Windows 8 laptops sell for as little as $279, the iPad mini is simply “seven-inch recreational tablets for $329.†And just for fun, in honour of previous jibes and counter jibes between Microsoft and Apple, AllThingsD’s John Paczkowski tongue-in-cheek-ily reminds us of the video (see top of post) where Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer scoffed at the idea of people paying $500 for an iPhone, way back when! An oldie but goldie video! Enjoy.
