Moving contacts from iphone 1 to ipad 2

Hi guys

I need help to transfer around 5000 plus contacts from iPhone 1 to iPad 2.

Tried contacts back up from apple store but couldnt get to sent the compressed mail from I phone due to size.

Can any one give me step by step procedure to do this.

what computer are you using?

did you sync your iphone to iTunes?

you can export your ipad contacts using "phonebook backup" from the appstore. it saves the entire contacts entries as a vcard, which you can send as an email from your iphone and then extract the said vcard using the iPad. it is much faster and easier to use than contacts backup.
