Hi, new to this site and the world of iPad so bear with me a little. Just brought iPad for my travels in the navy and brought a nice new digital camera too. I've got the camera connection kit with works fine with photos but wont play mp4 videos. Is there an app I get get to play them? I don't have the use of a laptop or desktop so the solution if there is one has to be without them..

The iPad without a supporting real computer is a seriously crippled device. Hopefully someone around here will be able to help you.

Here is a long shot.

I found this on the apple site.

If your camera supports both PTP and Mass Storage Device modes, it may be necessary to use both modes to import all media content. If some files do not import as expected using one mode, try switching to the other mode and importing again. Note: Some cameras may refer to PTP as Pictbridge or PTP/Pictbridge.

Check your camera manual and see if it supports the PTP mode mentioned. If it does switch to it and connect the camera to the iPad using the USB adaptor.

Hold in mind that waiting for the next best thing can be a never ending process. Then again I know the feeling of buying too close to the cycle end. I bought my first iPod on a Friday. That Saturday they announced the new generation. Unfortunately mine had already shipped.

On a brighter note, that iPod served me well for over two years. Once I got over my annoyance I never had reason to complain.

The good thing is if they announce new models, the old models get discounted. Last year's model is not a negative 90% of the time. I am need to get my wife to move up from her G4 iBook, but it works too good for her to give up. I have no problems with finding a home for it as my BIL claims first dibs.

Yeah, there maybe new release, but the MacBook also is updating, you could get the latest by waiting some time
For the videos on your camera, you should get the help of computer, and them maybe need to do some conversion to MP4, and then play on the iPad.
