How do I shuffle my songs on the Music app that comes with the iPad2?

How do I shuffle my songs on the Music app that comes with the iPad2?

Hi Pink Sparkles. Welcome to the iPad Forums.
When you start to play a song on an album, up at the top of the screen is a bar that lists the name of the song and the progression meter saying how much of the song has played and how much is left. To the right of the progress bar is a symbol that looks like a squiggly X. If you click on this X it will shuffle the songs in the album or current playlist.
By the way, there is a looping looking icon to the left side that will repeat the tracks over and over for your enjoyment.

So that x made out of arrows should be black? I ask b/c the play list doesn't appear shuffled... not sure if it will shuffle it without listing the order of the new shuffle.
Thanks for replying. I would have never thought to try one of those buttons. I have messed myself up several times by tapping strange-looking icons.

I went in and created a new playlist and started on the fourth song and hit the shuffle icon. The order of the list didn't change but the order in which they played did change.
When I tried this on my iPhone a few iOS versions back I seem to recall that the order of the play list changed. Now with iOS 6 the list stays the same but the order in which they are played is shuffled.
It may just be the way Apple has the shuffle option set now.
