Mute and a little lock icon with a arrow circle

some how I muted the clicking on the key board? Anyone know how to get it back?
Also, there is a lock icon with a circle arrow around it by the battery %. Was never there before. I have shut down the iPad completely and turned it back on and did not help.
Any help?

Keyboard sounds can be found in Settings > General > Sounds.
The icon you describe is for rotation lock. It is set either by the switch on the side, or by double clicking the home button and sliding to the left (depending on how you have "rotation lock" set up in Settings > General).

Agree w/ Jeeper - the on-off switch in the right upper side of the iPad is defaulted as the sound mute switch - please be sure that this is not muted; this switch can be reset in the settings menu to control and fixate the screen orientation. As also suggested by double-tapping the home button, the lower taskbar will open, move to the left end and make sure that the sound is not muted. Finally, and you may have already performed this maneuver, reset your iPad - directions HERE - good luck and report back to this thread if your are still having a problem -
