My iPad 1 lost all ability to play any video - Problem solved with reboot

None of my video apps will play a video. This includes: Neflix, Videos, ABC Player, TWC TV, WatchESPN, YouTube, etc. The pages will load and then a static picture from the site appears and no video starts.

After much frustration and on-line research, I rebooted the iPad. Seems to work now.

Is this a common problem? What could have caused it?
