my ipad wont turn on

i got as a gift an ipad and it was unlocked with the version 4.2.1
now i can turn it on because i went out of battery...
how can i fix this

Unless you got one of those 'one time use' disposable iPads, then charging it should have been your first step. Use a wall charger and not a laptop to do this, by the way. If you don't have a chager, then I would go smack the person who gave you a dead and useless iPad as a gift.
