My new ear phones do not work.

Actually I am probably doing something stupid.

I bought them from the aplenty store. It said they are compatible with the iPad.

I plug them in but the sound still comes out of the speaker and not the ear phones.

It's a stiff connection. Push it in farther. I had the same trouble.
