Hey guys. Is there any help out there to help dummies update a 4.2.1 iPad?

Okay, I'll bite...
Update to the latest iOS (4.3.4)? Update to the latest [untethered] jailbreakable iOS (4.3.3)? Jailbreak your iOS 4.2.1? Jailbreak your iPad?
I assume you want to jailbreak your iPad to the latest available (else, why would you post in the Hacking section
)?
The very first question we need answered is: Have you saved your SHSH blobs? If so, what version(s) of iOS have you saved?
What you can do to your iPad rests on the answer to the above...

Yes I want update to the latest firmware aim on 4.2.1 now, I am already jail broken, unteathered I have not saved my shsh blobs yet
Okay, run, not walk to your nearest Internet. Download and run Tiny Umbrella version 5.00.05. If you are very lucky, you've beaten Apple and snuck in a save of iOS 4.3.3 before the signing window closed.
If you're not, you'll only be able to save iOS 4.3.4 blobs. For an iPad1 that's not a big deal, there is an tethered jailbreak out there...
But, before we get into that, see if you can still snag those 4.3.3. blobs.

P.S. Though I am very confused: If you've been jail broke since 4.2.1, why haven't you saved your SHSH blobs? Are you sure they're not saved? Check the top of the main screen in Cydia...

Well, since you have iOS 4.3.1 SHSH blobs, and an iPad1, there are a couple of options for you. See this sticky (http://www.ipadforums.net/ipad-hacking/24377-jailbreaking-methods-ipad.html) for details, but you can do the jail break a couple of ways (well, more than a couple ... these are the two I'd recommend you decide between):
1) You can put your iPad into DFU mode to upgrade to iOS 4.3.1 (using this guide: http://www.ipadforums.net/ipad-hacking/27489-dfu-mode-dummies.html) and then, once you are on 4.3.1, you can go to JailbreakMe.com and do the "easy" jailbreak. That particular jailbreak is compatible with iOS 4.3.x
- OR -
2) Jailbreak using sn0wbreeze. The reassuring part is that, with saved SHSH blobs on an iPad1, if you make a mistake, you can just start all over again.
The stickies I referenced were written by our resident jail break expert, f4780y ("Leigh"). They are not complicated (heck, I used them to jail break!) and they are very detailed and well-written. Just ensure you read everything before you start.
There are more stickies available, covering just about any question you may have concerning jailbreaking. Just have a browse through the top of the Hacking section and its sub forums.
