My ipad will not start up - apple and itune logo only comes on - tried recovery - and hooked up to computer and it starts a download and fixing process but then won't finish. Any suggestions

What a lovely saying! I tried your suggestions but my ipad is out dated and they wanted me to pay for a tech. I also already tried the recovery. It won't complete it says it has an error and try again later. But thanks for trying to help anyway! Have a good day! Brenda

Sounds like apple.

Sounds like apple.

You mean they won't give you free tech support after the warranty (1 year) and free support period (90 days) has expired? What company does that 'not' sound like?

Both can be expanded to 2 years with an AppleCare purchase.

On the other hand, you can get Apple to look at it for free if you can get to an Apple Store. An appointment to look at the device costs nothing, even some basic diagnostics and help are free. Repairs, are of course, not free.

BTW, this thread is over a year old. It's sad that the original poster never came back to ask for more help, or let us know what they finally did (or didn't) do.

Mmmm. I don't think you entilerly understand what I meant. I meant that Apple products are very expensive and they get out of date quickly. Tho they are very good quality and apple are very helpfull. I allso know that this thread us a year old, but I'm an "ipad noob" so I still exploring the websight.

At this point, all tablets are out of date quickly. That was my point.

Though it's slowing down. I expect the iPad Air and latter to be solid products for at least three years; where as the iPad 3 and earlier were pushing their limits at two (if you wanted to use the newest bestest apps).

Smart phones are slightly better for longevity. Mostly because there core use is a mature technology.

It is/was a fast moving market. Not like computers, which have been 'relatively' stable for several years. My iMac is a 2009, and working fine on the newest software; though I doubt that will be true in another two years.

Yes Apple products, at least iOS ones, get out of date quickly. But so does every other product in the same category. Expense, of course, is another matter. Both sides can make good arguments about expense vs quality, and have been doing so since the dawn of personal computer. Mostly because people who have chosen a side (either side) have already decided what they value, and so their arguments will choose supporting evidence and arguments in their favor.
