Need help with two "paused" ibooks

I preordered two books from iBook. they downloaded no problem to my iPhone but my iPad 2 has them "paused". I went to purchased list to download but it keeps sending me back to the loop. Can anybody help?

I don't know if these tips work for books, but they have been suggested for apps.

Tap the book to pause the download, then tap again to resume.
Sign out of the iTunes Store and sign in again and start the download again.

There are other tips in the many threads about waiting downloads.
