There so many notetaking apps. But it depends on your use. Anyway Notetaker HD is great app you can use it. Otherwise try with Penultimate or UPad.

My 3 favourites are (in order of preference)...

Evernote,
Notability,
and Penultimate

The main criteria I've been using for looking for note taking apps is the ability to do a global search to find typed text, as well as text in pdf files, regardless of their location in the app. So far the only note taking app I've found that does this is Notability.

I was hoping Notes Plus would do this but it only does a global search typed text, not text that is already in pdf files. I was disappointed with this as Notes Plus looks nice a really nice app.

I'm keeping an eye on Tapose. Currently it doesn't support importing pdf files but I read that will change in the next update. Whether or not Tapose will support global text search is something I don't know yet.

I've stopped using Evernote. It's a great idea but I've found it too buggy.

Adding my vote to Notability. I use it for all my class notes for grad school in addition to all my other notes so I use it a lot. I've compared Notes Plus, Note Taker, Penultimate, and Noteshelf. I mostly take handwritten notes since typing advanced math equations is just too hard in class, but Notability's typed notes works really well too. I especially like how it will sync the recording with your typing like notebook view on Microsoft Words for Mac.
