New ibooks

On the Live stream it mentioned that iBooks would be available straight away from the App Store. I've been patiently waiting and it still is not available. Does anyone know when iBooks will be updated? Has anyone already got the updated version?

I don't update very often but is this the one? I'm in the UK and mine is available. It may not make a difference but close the app completely including in the taskbar and load it up again. Then goto to the updates button at the bottom and it should be there. Ive chose not to update to ios 6 though so don't know if that makes any difference.

Thank you! I have now downloaded The new version of ibooks but am now experiencing problems sharing part of the text to Facebook and twitter etc. Every time I highlight the part of the text I want, the only option is to speak. It seems to only allow me to share one word. Does anyone know how to do this? Also I still can't find the options for continuous scroll.

I'm trying to figure out how you're getting the Speak option. I've done everything I can think of to enable it.

Oh, never mind. I found it.

Under Settings > General > Accessibility there is a new option: Speak Selection.

Once turned on selecting things in iBooks gets fairly unpredictable as to what menu pops up. If you select more than one word, you suddenly get Speak as the only option. After that even selecting one word seems to get the Speak option; though sometimes waiting bit, or turning the page seems to reset this behavior.

If you highlight text first, then the menu that pops up has more options and an arrow to the right. The arrow leads to a menu with Speak.

So at this point, the method of getting the normal menu back in iBooks appears to be to go into Accessibility and turn the Speak Selection option.

Hmm, you can also have it highlight words as it speaks them. Cool, I guess.

P.S. I'm guessing this is a bug in iBooks, since the Notes app appears to act more constantly, menu wise.

Thank you! I'm glad someone else noticed too. Apple sent another update of this last night which seems to have cleared up the problem ... Yippeeee
