New iPad 2 owner eager to learn

I'm a Mac user for years - in fact have never used anything but a Mac and iphone... I've held off buying the iPad but then a very special husband decided I needed one for a birthday present... (same thinking for my beloved iPhone years ago - he knows I won't buy one for myself....) So, I'm loving it except for one problem that I'll check out in this forum... We have an ordinary size house and ATT modem with WiFi and the iPad loses WiFi outside 25 feet of the modem. Both Mac computers and iphone have no problem with the same WiFi at greater distances...what's up with the iPad WiFi is going to be my first question to research....
