New iPad seems to be dead on arrival

I bought a 64 gig +3g iPad today and I suspect it is doa. When I try and setup by connecting to the PC, it is not being recognised by iTunes 10.1 and it simply won't power up. When I try and charge it using the power adapter, the Apple logo briefly appears (for a few seconds), the screen blanks out and then the logo reappears and so the cycle continues. I've tried to reset, but there's just no life.

I have a second iPad that works perfectly with the PC in question, so I therefore suspect it can't be related to the USB port on the PC or the version of iTunes. What could be worng?

Unit exchanged confirmed DOA

Apple Sydney confirmed unit is DOA. Unable to power up. Retailer exchanged it for a new unit with no problems. All now good.
