New iPad user

Hello I just got an iPad and I'm having an issue where it will go to the apple icon and it stops. I tried holding the home and reset button nothing. I'm also wondering if it needs charged

Hi Greencastle.. - welcome to the forum! :)

Concerning 'resetting' the iPad, the Sleep/Awake & Home buttons need to be held simultaneously for up to 10 seconds before the maneuver is effective - so you might want to give 'reset' another try.

Why are you 'wondering' about charging the device? The battery icon is in the right upper corner of the display and should indicate the charge present or if plugged into the appropriate charger, a symbol indicating that the battery is charging. So, please provide some more information - also you may want to mention you iPad model - good luck!

Well thanks. I asked about he battery bc I think my nephew let it run down to nothing so feel that is part of the problem. I did try holding down the home and power but it just shut off for a few seconds and it pops on back to the logo screen. So now I'm trying to re-set it back to factory setting

Apple does recommend letting the battery discharge to near completeness (not all of the way, though) about once a month, which adjusts the battery meter to work properly. You might want to due a 'prolonged' charge (like overnight) to determine the status of the battery - good luck and please post back - :)

I think it's time for a Genius Bar appointment at the Apple Store. If they can't help you fix the problem, you should get another iPad in exchange.

Scifan what is Genius Bar

It's the customer service section of an Apple store. It's usually busy, so it's best to call ahead and make an appointment.

Another way to contact Apple is if you have the Apple store iPhone app. At the bottom of each product page you'll see this.

image-3820546358.webpTap on call apple and you can call them right from the app.

image-3659801767.webpIf you tap the button from an iPad, this screen shows up, with contact info.

The easiest way, though, would be just to phone your local apple store to make the appointment.
