Hi all, I plan to buy the New Ipad. Most of the videos I have are of the standard 640x246 resolution or thereabouts. Will these videos play normally (full screen) on the New Ipad which has 2048x1536 resolution?
As long as they are in the correct format, yes. The iPad will just fill in the rest of the pixels on the screen. I have plenty of 720x480 rips from DVD that play just fine on the screen of the new iPad.

I can't answer that question as I only use one app, AVPlayerHD. You can find it in the App store. I also don't use any AVI files. I rip to m4v exclusively.
AVPLayerHD will play your avi videos just fine. I've been using that app ever since I bought it for my iPad 2 last year. Now that I have my iPad 3, it's still my go to video player.
