New Member - Contact List

Hello everyone! I am Larry and new to this site. I have an iMac, iPad(1), and soon to be updating to the iPhone4S from iPhone 3G. I have done this primarily for business.

I got started using MobileMe when I first got the iPad. It took my 3,000+ contacts and multiplied them by 10. I am hoping iCloud corrects this issue, but I am wondering if I should clear my contacts on the iPad and start over. Does anyone know how to erase the entire contacts list?

If you are syncing with a service, all you have to do is turn off Contacts for that account and choose Delete from iPad when prompted.

If you are still using MobileMe, I recommend going to me.com before you update and using the export feature to export all your contacts as a vCard file. I didn't have any problems migrating from MobileMe and iOS 4 to iOS 5 and iCloud, but with 3000+ contacts you probably shouldn't take any chances. Not that I did. I also had backup file from MobileMe, just in case. Actually, I think I made them using the iMac programs, but close enough.

If all else fails, you can mail the vCard to your iPad later. Tapping and holding a vCard attachment in Mail gives you the option to import it into Contacts.
