I just joined and, having never used a forum before, am having difficulty figuring out where to post questions or comments. I have been trying unsuccessfully to get to iWork. Every time I go to icloud it just takes me to the setup screen. I've done that dozens of times now and am becoming very frustrated. I am a new ipad user too. Would anyone offer assistance? Of course I have no idea where I will find a reply....

Hi, welcome to iPF!

With your iPad browser, you won't be able to login to iCloud to access iWork. This can only be done on your computer.

You will have to download the apps in App Store (Pages, Numbers, Keynotes) to use iWork on your iPad.

To make using this website easier, there are two apps you could try:

Here's a link to the tutorial and an App Store link for the one I'm preferring: http://www.ipadforums.net/new-membe...sistance/107524-ipad-forums-app-tutorial.html

The other one is Tap a talk:

I believe this is due to the user agent string that mobile Safari uses. I can access the full version of icloud.com via atomic browser (allows custom user agent strings) on the iPad 4 but it's slow.

You're right.
I have to correct my post: with Safari on iPad it's impossible to login to iCloud to access iWork, ...

While it possible to log into icloud.com by changing the user agent (in iCab Mobile or Atomic), the apps themselves will not work properly on a mobile browser. They use web features/technology not supported by most mobile browsers, at least any of the mobile browsers that I've ever tried.

Ah, thanks for that explanation. I hadn't tried actually using any apps, just knew that login was functional. I doubt I would use the apps even if they functioned.. the site is too slow for my tastes.

No problem.

The site is very slow on the iPad. It's better from my iMac. I don't think icloud.com is meant to be used as anything but a secondary way of getting at and using your iCloud data. At least so far. The inclusion of the new iWorks (beta) apps may be the beginning of a new trend.

I played with them a few weeks ago, and the editing capabilities of the online versions of iWorks are a shadow of what you can do with the iPad versions, which are in turn a bit limited when compared with the OS X (desktop) versions.
