New sign in alert in Gmail every time I login with my iPad

Hi there,

I’ve had my iPad for a few months now and every time I login to previously visited sites, I get an alert through Gmail. I have gone to the settings in Safari to make sure that cookies are allowed, and that’s all fine. Does anybody have any suggestions please?

Make sure you have not accidentally entered Private mode. If you have, the URL/Search bar at the top will be dark gray. In iPadOS 14 the background is black. Private Mode prevents the use of cookies on the iPad, which means the site can not remember you.

If you have;

In iPadOS 15 tap the sidebar icon (top left) and tap on Start Page. Private would have been selected before.

In iPadOS tap the double overlapping square icon and tap Private.

Also when in private mode your usual sites on the start page go away. You'll only see sites you've visited in private mode normal mode, not both.
