new to apple

Hi everyone I'm David all my freinds call me Debo..I'm new to apple products,,,I still buying more..I have iPhone 4S,, iPad ( latest and greatest),, plus I have MacBook Pro running mountain lion.so now to the point I'm not a Mac guy.. So I thought this would be a good place to start.. I'm trying to open a rar file on my iPad but to my luck no go!!! Can anyone help?thanks
