Hi all,

I've been a windows person for the last 20 odd years I suppose but after getting an iPhone 3GS 18 months ago realised I had missed a trick and recently got a an iPad 2 64g wifi. Not content there when my desktop decided it had had enough I purchased a 27" iMac..... Bit more of a story to that one as apple have it currently trying to make it reliable.

Current reason for my interest is that I am trying to work out a way of using either my iPhone or iPad to control the other. Basically so I can plug one into my stereo in a remote part of the house and control the tunes from the unit close to me

I can't find any straight forward answers which I am surprised about. Maybe I'm looking in the wrong place.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. I also have apple tv but that only has digital out so I don't see a way that I could use that for what I want

Cheers

Hi there and welcome.

There is lots of good advice and info on here plus plenty of members all too willing to help with any problems.

Remember, search is your friend.......and please don't forget to read the rules http://www.ipadforums.net/forum-rules-help-info/2119-forum-rules-everybody-please-read.html

These are the hacking section rules for all you jail breakers (and would be jail breakers) http://www.ipadforums.net/ipad-hacking/2892-hacking-section-rules-please-read.html

We also have an app for this forum. The link to download the app is: Discussion Forum for iPad Users for iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad on the iTunes App Store

If you have other Apple products or are interested in other Apple kit then why not join our sister forum too at http://www.appleforums.net/

Finally, if you still haven't had enough, how about a video explaining about our other forums (note:you may want to play this at half speed but hey, why shouldn't Phil be excited about our forums!)

I don't know about hooking up the iPhone and the iPad so that one can control the other, but...

What about hooking the Apple TV up to your stereo (either through the TV or on its own ... I'm a bit hazy with cables and such. :o). If you do Home Sharing, Apple TV can play your iTunes music, videos, etc.

You could then get the app Remote, which is free at the App Store and works on both the iPhone and the iPad. With the Remote app, you can use either the iPhone or the iPad to control the Apple TV, which would be playing your iTunes library.

That's the best I can think of. If it's a stupid idea, sorry and never mind. Else, hope it helps.

Good to hear from you. You’ll find a whole bunch of iPad enthusiasts in this Forum who are only too willing to help other iPad owners and to hear of their experiences. Don’t be afraid to post any questions you may have or use the ‘Search’ button near the top of the Forum web page. I usually find I discover one new interesting and useful piece of information about my iPad every day - and often not even what I was looking for!!

Hope to hear from you soon with your thoughts about the iPad.

Have fun and enjoy your iPad

If you don’t already have it you can download a copy of the iPad manual for free.

Please read the rules too!!

How do I start a new thread. I don't see a link anywhere.

If you are on the app, press the Forums tab, select the Forum then the topic that your thread relates to and then press the arrow in a box icon at the top right of the page, select New Thread.

FYI. The App is Discussion Forum for iPad Users

I am trying to capture the web picture sent when I check in on an airline. How do you do a screen capture on an iPad 2 using IO5?
